As the end of the year draws near, we’re excited to take the opportunity to announce our latest venture, Tees for Good, which has allowed us the opportunity to get creative while giving back to a charity and cause that is close to our heart.
‘Tees for Good’ will launch as the first collection on our shiny new ecommerce store, The Kindness Collection – with seven special edition t-shirts designed by the Shine team. Retailing for £25, the profits made from the sale of the t-shirts will directly support our chosen charity for the year – a well-known mental health charity which supports people all over the UK with their mental health and wellbeing.
Made and printed locally to where they are ordered and delivered, we are working with Gelato to ensure that production processes for the t-shirts are as sustainable as possible. This means that all our tees are responsibly sourced using sustainable materials, while the production process means slashed waste, transportation distances and carbon emissions, as well as a speedy delivery time!
In true Shine style, we were keen for the team to get creative and have some fun with the tees, injecting some of their own personal inspirations and style into the designs, while giving a nod to our chosen charity this year.
We spoke to each of the team members behind the creations about what inspired their t-shirt design:

Peter: “Named, ‘For the Love of Shine’, my design shows a depiction of a human skull and the complexity within, with the artwork looking to portray the connected chain of thoughts that evolve and flourish into an idea. The form of a skull is used in homage to one of my favourite modern art pieces by Damian hurst – ‘For the Love of God’. The eyes look into the soul and the light within, as the form spirals and turns to encapsulate a ‘Shine’ moment happen and the ideas take flight.”

Ellie: “My design – Cosmic Mycology – was inspired by my love of nature, both real and fantastical, and reflects my belief in the importance of preserving our magical landscapes so that their beauty can be appreciated by future generations.”

Emily: “As Shine’s resident wordsmith and a seasoned writer, to me, the written word is an incredibly powerful tool. With words, you can convey an emotion or a feeling, an experience, or an idea. Through my t-shirt slogan ‘Words Have Power’, I love the dual meaning of the phrase in how it relates both to my passion for my work as a copywriter, and in the capacity of human kindness. Words really do have an impact and to me, it’s important that we use our words wisely to show compassion for others.”

Daz: “Based on my passion for music, the text ‘We All Shine On’ refers to a John Lennon song, which I’ve combined with a nod to Shine and also the natural elements that power the world. These include the moon, a spaceman, a Libra constellation, and the sun, with subtle details such as a 3D cog to reference my 3D illustration work for TE Connectivity. The central graphical shape is the ‘D’ profile graphic from my personal SoundCloud account. Music and graphical creativity is a similar thing in terms of layering different elements to create a single picture or idea.”

Luke: “My t-shirt inspiration links to the role I play at Shine and my passion for both web development and conservation. The idea stemmed from our recent work moving the sites we work with across to SiteGround hosting. SiteGround’s data centre is powered by renewable energy sources because its infrastructure is entirely based around Google’s Cloud platform – which is carbon-neutral – matching 100% of its energy consumption with renewable sources like wind and solar.”
This Christmas, we’d love you to support our chosen mental health charity by purchasing a t-shirt from our shop, The Kindness Collection.
