As a leading provider of rail infrastructure services, Colas Rail takes its duty of care extremely seriously - calling for a new 'Slips, Trips and Falls' safety campaign that could build upon the momentum of its overarching ‘Free to be Safe’ movement and take essential steps towards preventing avoidable accidents in the workplace.

The Project

With shock tactics no longer proving effective with employees, the mischievous and slightly sinister character of Ratty was introduced to showcase the various risks at play, while balancing a harsh message with a lighthearted, illustrative approach. From character development, animations and GIFs to posters, leaflets and giveaways, this campaign evolved into a complete suite of marketing assets that clearly communicated the importance of site safety - and what can happen when you fail to take it seriously.
